PYE 2018 - For Peace

The next PYE
PYE 2018
July 25-28
All Saints' Atlanta
Cost: $150

Since 2015, the Diocese of Atlanta has provided a missional experience for teens. The event is known as atlSERVE. Each year, more than 50 youth from across the Diocese come together to serve and be served by communities in Atlanta and it's metros. The focus of the week remains the same each year - where do we see God in the world and how can we show God's love?
In 2018, the Diocese of Atlanta will be hosting the Province IV Youth Event, PYE 2018. We will join together to experience the Presence of God in the world. There will be other service partners added as we move closer to PYE 2018. Each will present an opportunity to serve and be served by God's people.

PYE 2018 will take place from July 25-28. Saturday, the 28th, will be a travel day. The Atlanta airport is 20 minutes from our housing site. The cost to attend PYE 2018 is $150 per participant.

Our service partners:
  • Church of the Common Ground - Serving breakfast, leading morning prayer, and working at
    the foot clinic
  • Holy Comforter - Serving in their kitchen and in the community garden
  • Smart Kid Smart Lunch - Building and delivering lunches to children on assisted school lunch
    programs
  • Midtown Assistance Center - Working with clients, making lunches, and data entry
  • Atlanta Community Foodbank - Volunteering in the Disaster Relief Center and loading
    donations for delivery

Evening Program:
After serving for the day, we spend part of the evening reflecting on our experience. As part of this year's PYE 2018, we have invited Posts for Peace to be a part of the reflection. We will dive into PEACE and share ideas of how we can be instruments of peace within Atlanta, at home, and the world.
Using 6 ft posts, we will create works of art that will be displayed across the country in an effort to raise awareness and stimulate conversation leading to peace and resolving injustice. You can find more information at postsforpeaceandjustice.org

Where We Stay:
All participants stay in the youth space of All Saints' Atlanta for the week. This is state-of-the-art youth space that has a basketball court, movie screen, pool tables, ping pong tables, kitchen, showers, and ample sleeping space.
Each participant will need to bring an air mattress/cot and their sleeping bags, towels & pillows. PYE 2018 will compile with The Episcopal Church’s “Safeguarding God’s People” Policies 2018. The space is monitored at night by on-site security. An alarm is set at curfew.

We invite all youth in high school are invited to participate in this incredible week of service that provides youth and adults with the opportunity to live into Peace and where God calls us to serve and be served by others.

Registration:
All high schoolers are invited to attend PYE 2018. Registration is available online or by mail – each Diocese is allotted 5 youth and 2 chaperones. Registration is available on the calendar page.
